 It's finally coming home. England women have secured a major piece of silverware for the first time after beating great rivals Germany in a pulsating European Championship final. Sarina Wiegman's side, who beat Austria, Norway, Northern Ireland, Spain and Sweden on their way to the final, took the lead through substitute Ella Toone. Georgia Stanway picked up the ball in midfield before knocking it across to Keira Walsh, who fed Toone with a perfectly-weighted through ball. Manchester United will play Atletico Madrid in Oslo on Saturday afternoon. United have gone undefeated in pre-season this summer after their tour of Thailand and Australia, which gave Erik ten Hag's side the opportunity to play friendly fixtures against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.   Manchester United have had a transfer package agreed with Barcelona for Frenkie de Jong for the last ten days, according to Fabrizio Romano. The deal is still not progressing, however, due to the fact that the Netherlands international remains unsure about swapping the Nou Camp for Old Trafford.   Anthony Martial has emerged as a key player for Manchester United in pre-season, scoring three goals in four games. As per the Daily Mail, the club's coaching staff describe the Frenchman as 'a much more cheerful individual' compared to before. New manager Erik ten Hag has also been impressed with the forward's work in training ahead of the new season, according to The Athletic. Martial looks set to start in the Premier League opener against Brighton on August 7 even if Cristiano Ronaldo decided to stay at Old Trafford this summer.

  Manchester United are preparing for their fourth and final tour game outside Europe as they face Aston Villa in Perth, with Erik ten Hag aiming to make it four wins from as many games in his maiden summer.  Former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard has signed a one-year deal with Nottingham Forest. Lingard, 29, joins as a free agent after leaving United at the end of last season when his contract expired at Old Trafford. West Ham, Newcastle and a number of MLS sides had been linked with the England international but he has now signed a short-term deal with Forest, who were promoted to the Premier League after beating Huddersfield in the Championship play-off final in May.  Harry Maguire was 'booed with every touch' by Manchester United fans in Australia for their pre-season game against Crystal Palace. Maguire started his side's third game of their Australia tour, but was met with a chorus of boos during the match on Tuesday. Fans in attendance at the Melbourne Cricket Ground ruthlessly booed Maguire every time he got on the ball. The boos didn't effect his game, with the 29-year-old producing a brilliant pass in the first-half.

 After beating Crystal Palace 3-1 in the third pre-season game, Erik ten Hag was asked about the influx of players from Holland at Manchester United. Lisandro Martinez has joined from Ajax while Tyrell Malacia arrived for Feyenoord. Even Christian Eriksen, who joined for free, has played for Ajax in the past. Ten Hag smiled and replied: "I would like to sign English players because I think there is only one criteria and that's quality in combination with the price. "It looks like English players are quite expensive. It's a fact you cannot deny. In the end, it's about quality." Well, Ten Hag has hit the nail on the head, considering we paid £50 million for Aaron Wan-Bissaka back in 2019. The 23-year-old endured a turbulent career in Germany after obtaining multiple injuries, leading him to only appear in 15 Bundesliga games last season. As a result, Dortmund declined to offer the youngster a contract extension after it expired in June this year. The Frenchman joined the German side from Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and had become the backbone of Dortmund’s defence before his injury setbacks during the 2021/22 campaign.   Man United have made three signings so far in the summer transfer windows to strengthen Erik ten Hag’s squad. The Red Devils have signed Christian Eriksen as a free agent, as well as roping in Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez from the Eredivisie.   Manchester United are set to offer Donny Van de Beek as part of a swap deal for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer.  The Dutch midfielder has so far failed to live up to the hype that came with his signing from Ajax in 2020. He was sent out on loan to Everton for the second half of the 21/22 season but again failed to get regular game time.  Van de Beek has since returned to United and has featured under new boss Erik ten Hag during the team’s first two pre season games. But it is looking increasingly likely that his time at Old Trafford could be at an end. His second spell at Old Trafford was a disaster as his relationship with the United faithful turned sour.
