Ten Hag on signing Eredivisie players for Man United: 'English players are quite expensive'
After beating Crystal Palace 3-1 in the third pre-season game, Erik ten Hag was asked about the influx of players from Holland at Manchester United.
Lisandro Martinez has joined from Ajax while Tyrell Malacia arrived for Feyenoord. Even Christian Eriksen, who joined for free, has played for Ajax in the past.
Ten Hag smiled and replied: "I would like to sign English players because I think there is only one criteria and that's quality in combination with the price.
"It looks like English players are quite expensive. It's a fact you cannot deny. In the end, it's about quality."
Well, Ten Hag has hit the nail on the head, considering we paid £50 million for Aaron Wan-Bissaka back in 2019. United also brought in Harry Maguire for £80 million in addition to the £73 million we paid for Jadon Sancho.
